Health & Safety

Crewsaders is responsible under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its employees at work with particular reference to the provision of:

  • Safe systems of working practices for the safe use, handling, storage and transport of equipment, articles and substances related to the performance of crewing services to the events industry;
  • Safety training for all staff on employment induction;
  • Revision or creation of risk assessments and method statements related to new types of service provision required by clients;
  • A safe environment in which to work with safe access/exit points;
  • A healthy and safe working environment through continual monitoring of health and safety standards by the Health and Safety Manager and on site by Crew Chiefs.

Crew induction covers safe working systems that are continually monitored by Crew Chiefs. Induction training involves a thorough explanation of PPE requirements, safe and sustainable working practices based on manual handling, health and safety and environmental policy and practices. A buddy system is operated where new crewmen are paired with experienced crewmen to train in and monitor safe and sustainable working practices. New health, safety and risk assessment developments are communicated through our internal communications channel to all managers and operatives on a regular basis. Standard and bespoke risk assessments are available to our clients on request.
