A recent project for Fairman Knight & Sons demonstrates how skilled workforce solutions can play a vital role in sustainable industrial operations. The project's success was achieved by making smarter use of the assets, equipment, and resources that already exist.
Fairman Knight & Sons Mission
Fairman Knight & Sons is a business that is building a more sustainable and resilient food system through circular agriculture. By transforming locally sourced food waste into high-value insect protein, bio-oils, soil health products, and other natural resources, the company reduces waste, shortens supply chains, and lowers the environmental impact of food production. Operating from the heart of the UK's Food Valley, Fairman Knight & Sons is committed to creating measurable climate benefits, supporting British farming, and demonstrating that commercial success and environmental responsibility can work hand in hand.
Crewsaders Supporting the Circular Economy
Working alongside Fairman Knight & Sons engineering team, Crewsaders supported the relocation of thirteen large industrial chillers from a facility in Daventry to a new site in Holbeach. Rather than replacing the equipment with new units, the project enabled critical production infrastructure to be dismantled, transported, reinstalled, and recommissioned for continued use. This approach not only delivered commercial value but also reduced the environmental impact associated with manufacturing, transporting, and installing entirely new systems.
The Importance of Skilled Workforce Support
Sustainability is not only about equipment. It is also about delivering projects efficiently and safely. For the chiller relocation project, Crewsaders supplied a multi-skilled workforce including general operatives, carpenters, forklift operators, telehandler drivers, MEWP operators, and site logistics personnel. Working closely with Fairman Knight & Sons' engineering team, the Crewsaders workforce supported every stage of the operation, from dismantling and material handling through to transportation preparation, unloading, and installation support. Having the right people in the right place at the right time ensured the project remained efficient, minimised delays, and reduced unnecessary resource consumption.
