7 Days In: No Shortcuts. No Days Off.

Seven days. Seven marathons. Zero let-up.
David Walmsley is one week into a challenge most wouldn't even consider: 30 marathons in 30 days, running from the Isle of Skye to London.
No rest days. No shortcuts. Just relentless forward progress toward London on 30th April.

From Optimism to Reality

Day one brought energy. Day seven brought truth.
This week has delivered everything the UK can throw at a person. Snow underfoot, relentless rain, and winds that cut straight through you. The elevation alone has been the equivalent of climbing Ben Nevis twice.
And still, he goes again the next day. This isn't about comfort. It's about commitment.
No Plan Survives the Road

There is no such thing as a "set route" anymore. Plans change daily. Weather forces detours, roads become unsafe, and traffic blocks intended paths. Every day becomes a problem-solving exercise.
Behind the scenes, it's a tight operation. David covers every mile on foot while Gavin navigates, supports, and adapts from the van. No noise. No excuses. Just solutions.
Pain Is Part of the Process

By week one, this goes beyond fatigue.
David has been managing a foot injury since Day 1, something that would stop most people before they even started.
With support from Crewsaders' physiotherapist Geoff, he has a diagnosis and a plan. But that doesn't remove the challenge, it means managing it every single day. Adjusting his stride, seeking out softer ground where possible, and pushing through constant pain to keep the momentum going.
This isn't perfect. It isn't easy. But it's purposeful.
Every Mile Means Something
This challenge isn't just physical.
It's about raising awareness and funds for mental health charities Back Up Tech, Mind, and Scottish Action for Mental Health. Because behind every mile, there's someone fighting their own battle, often silently.
Be Part of It
This challenge only works with support behind it. Follow the journey on Instagram, share this post, and help it reach someone who needs to see it.
Because no one should have to struggle alone. And every step forward counts.
